OFF-GRID OR
ON-GRID?

US Wind Map

Off-Grid
When your alternative energy equipment is off-grid, it is not connected to any external electrical network. The power generated is only used by your home or business.

On-Grid
When your alternative energy equipment is on-grid, it is connected to the electrical network that powers your community. If you generate more energy than you use, that energy flows back into the grid. You must be on-grid to take advantage of Net Metering.
